Thousands of Hongkongers and their supporters in the UK and around the world are gearing up for the 3rd anniversary of the 2019 Hong Kong protest this weekend.
Leading human rights advocates including Benedict Rogers, Luke de Pulford, Nathan Law, Finn Lau and Simon Cheng are to address the planned London Rally in Parliament Square on Sunday, 12th June from 3pm to 4.30pm. More protests are planned across the country including in Manchester and Liverpool.
According to the social media posting of Fight for Freedom, Stand With Hong Kong group, “The last three years changed the course of our lives.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. 6.12 three years ago was the beginning of a chapter that re-defined what it means to be Hongkongers. It was the season of light, as the city was sparkle by the kindness and togetherness of the people; it was the season of darkness, as Hongkongers fought the brutal Chinese regime with bare hands; it was the summer of hope, it was the summer of discontent.”
Co-0rganised with other leading groups from Hong Kong, the post further reads: “We shall never forget why we started. The unconditional love for Hong Kong, the unyielding belief in freedom and democracy, the faith we have in our peoples, lay deep in our thoughts and minds.
“Three years on, some of us are in jail, some are in exile, but many, many freedom loving. Hongkongers are still in Hong Kong. By preserving the truth, we connect the past with future, we connect Hongkongers at home and abroad. We are not alone, we are all in this together.
“United we stand, be water we meet again.”
