John Billington from Montgomery submitted his letter to The Daily Telegraph’s Editor on 2nd December in response to British MP Andrew Rosindell‘s call for help the people of Hong Kong. Since this letter was not published, the GATPM is delighted to make it available to our readers and supporters.

“Dear Sir,
I wholeheartedly endorse Andrew Rosindell’s call that we in the free world should stand by Jimmy Lai, democracy and the rule of law, and demand an end to authoritarianism in Hong Kong. But it is not just Hong Kong. A self-governing Tibet was forcibly annexed in 1950 by a triumphalist communist army and has been held by force and ruthless repression for more than seventy years — ignored by the outside world despite over 155 self-immolations by desperate Tibetans whose former religion, culture and freedoms, like those of the neighbouring Uighur peoples, continue to be endlessly eroded.
It is some consolation for us in the free world that the malign intentions of the CCP (Communist Party of China) have finally been rumbled by our over-credulous leaders but it must be stressed that it is not the Chinese people — subject themselves to the most intrusive Orwellian survelliance of any nation on earth — that we should oppose. Rather we must help our Chinese friends to overthrow the oppression of the communist party that denies them the freedoms that we enjoy.”
